GOG.com is doing a promotion to hit 6 million downloads from their website. Currently, they’ve already hit it but they haven’t taken away the promotion. Here’s what Good Old Games stated for the promotion:
Last week, during CD Projekt Fall 2011 Conference, we’ve launched a counter on the main page which indicated the number of unique games downloaded at GOG.com. Today that counter hit 6 million unique game downloads, and to celebrate this fact and to thank all of you at GOG.com, together with Revolution Software, we’re lowering the price for first part of the acclaimed Broken Sword series to “free”! In order to receive the free copy of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars free, go to the gamecard and click on “download now”, at which point the game will be added to your game shelf.
The special offer for Broken Sword is valid until October 1, at 7:59 a.m. EDT (11:59 a.m. GMT), so be sure to grab it by then and don’t forget to share the news with all your friends!!!
Gran Turismo 5 wasn’t exactly the polished hit that everyone was hoping for. In fact, I thought, “What happened?” when I first tried to play a few races with my cousin online. Yesterday, Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the series, tweeted that Gran Turismo Spec 2.0 was going to be coming out. Here’s the English of what was said:
GT fans, thanks for waiting… The GT5 Spec 2.0 update is coming the 3rd week of October, with DLC following a week later.
Did you ever play Medal of Honor, the modern warfare edition that came out almost a year ago? It really wasn’t that bad. I’ll review it when I get the chance. But anyway, it included an invite to the Battlefield 3 beta. If you’re not pumped up for some Battlefield 3, I just don’t know what’s wrong with you. The open beta is hitting next week, September 29th. This beta will only be one map (no need to spoil the full game!), and it will be the gameplay mode, Rush.
Remember the cool 90s Batman animated show on Fox Kids? It’s one of the only reasons I even like Batman today. Well, it’s going to be an unlockable skin for gamers during launch, but only for those PowerUp members. You know the guys that annoy the crap out of you when you just want to buy a game at GameStop? (And don’t blame them; they’re doing what the boss man tells them). Maybe you should listen to them, because being a member is actually worth something now.

Whoa, another new feature, you say? Yes. Gaming TV, for footage people. Enjoy.
While this news is new and exciting, I must say I was never a fan of the original Crysis. I’m not one to really call hype on a popular product, but this game suffers majorly from it. When I first went through a PC Gamer to read up on the title, the review sold me on an open world with incredible AI. And of course, gorgeous graphics! But the game fell short on being open and the AI just seemed weak to me. Certainly not the worst, but not what it was described. I recently played through the game again, and I just still wasn’t impressed. By all means, it felt like a great tech demo for a new graphics engine. I digress. I’m still excited to see this on a console since it took years for this to work on my PC at full graphics.
So you thought you did everything in Minecraft? Well, get ready to actually play a full complete game in Minecraft, and none other than a good looking Legend of Zelda mod! It comes with a map and an actual mod. This isn’t just a texture pack; this is the real thing. Here’s their official trailer, and then on to the good stuff such as install.
Welcome to a new feature on There Will Be Blood. called “Free Game Fridays“. I’ll find the best (or worst) games every Friday that are completely free and legal to download and play. First up is a classic PC game called Starsiege: Tribes. Tribes was a king of capture the flag and vehicles back in it’s time (1998) and still has people playing today! There’s no single player, but since it’s older, it doesn’t have stupid login screens as well. It’s just as simple as downloading, picking you name, and playing. There’s several modes: Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Capture & Hold, and more. It’s terrific fun.
